At the last CBN meeting in August we were very happy to welcome Jonathan Best from Brighton and Hove City Council who came to talk about all things funding related.
Jonathan outlined the processes for applying for the The Communities Fund, which offers support to local community groups, voluntary organisations & not-for-profit social enterprise – and can offer core / project funding to organisations with an income of usually up to £100K pa.
Engagement funding of up to £2K pa. to organisations with an income of usually up to £20K pa.
Resilience funding of up to £10K pa. to organisations with an income of usually up to £100K pa.

There is an updated on-line bidding platform for 2018-19 which uses clear layout / graphics, a pre-formatted budgeting screen and options to progress completion of the bid as suits applicants and a new ‘auto-save’ function. The Fund could support many Community Buildings user groups with funding towards their own running costs. These may include rental charges for premises hire – and thus offer complementary income to help community buildings manage those facilities.
